WHAT IS FAMS? OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU Actively explore and provide information about new technology and regulatory changes related to the funeral industry. Pearl and Robert Davie, walking through life together Pearl Davie was one of many volunteers who worked tirelessly to provide consumer input to bringing Ontario Legislative changes to the consumer. Her wit is memorable and a good foil to the arduous task of changing legislation. Every time a government was elected or a portfolio re-assigned, they had to re-start the process. Over a period of ten years, that is a significant number of re-starts. Kudos to valiant warriors like Pearl Davie!. Why Pre-arrange?Making advance plans for your funeral ensures that your funeral wishes are clear, cost effective, and prepares your loved ones as they navigate the emotional journey of loss. You may be thinking, "that's what my will is for"! Although wills are vital, they are typically read following the funeral and do not always include all of the information needed to fulfill your wishes. How FAMS will helpFAMS provides the information you need to plan your funeral. FAMS provides an annual series of presentations on different aspects of death care for its members. FAMS also surveys death care costs in Ontario and publishes a selection of these costs across the province for members’ reference. FAMS's members gain access to our Pre-arrangement Package which includes a step by step guide to start your planning, simple and easy to use wallet card with your wishes and so much more. Joining FAMS brings the peace of mind that comes from knowing your wishes have been recorded and filed. |
The Funeral Advisory and Memorial Society of Southern Ontario (FAMS) is a compassionate consumer advocate helping members to pre-arrange simple, dignified and inexpensive funerals. FAMS also provides general information to the public.
At the time of death, stress on family and friends makes it difficult to decide quickly and sensibly on the final details of a funeral. We encourage our members to discuss and pre-plan those arrangements and then register with a funeral provider.
Founded in 1957 as The Toronto Memorial Society, FAMS is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization with an unpaid volunteer Board of Trustees. We do not have any financial interest in any funeral home, transfer service, crematorium, cemetery, or funeral products company.
